DRESDEN CRIMINAL TOUR – A MUSICAL WALK THROUGH DRESDEN’S CRIME SCENES

Feared bandits, unscrupulous killers and crafty con men – all of them were up to no good in the Saxon royal residence. Some of them have even become the heroes of verses, anecdotes and witty horror stories.
These include the bandit Lips Tullian and the Black Guard from the Tharandt Forest, the notorious Johannes Karasek and the con man Karl May, otherwise known as one of Germany’s most celebrated authors of adventure literature and inventor of the Apache Chief Winnetou. Famous criminals also need celebrity victims: for example, the great Dresden painter Gerhard von Kügelgen, who bumped into an assassin; the chamber virtuoso Gunkel, whose ex-lover shot him in the tram; even the Saxon King himself was in on the fun!
Grotesque and exciting, funny and tragic: this is the history of crime in Dresden. Join Bänkelsänger Balthasar Briesemuth Biedermann and hear the criminal secrets of Dresden’s alleyways – always with a mischievous wink.

THROUGH DRESDEN’S ALLEYWAYS BY NIGHT – A WALK WITH THE GREY MONK

The Grey Monk Anselmus of Nossen makes wine from water – Photo: Peter Weidenhagen

When the Zwinger pond glitters in the moonlight and the gas lanterns flicker, the ghost of a deceased Franciscan monk appears. He summons the night owls, hands out golden wine and tells tales of times gone by on his way through the dark streets. He was sentenced to death 500 years ago by Elector Moritz due to overabundant curiosity. However, he was too stubborn to die; now he haunts the town, gathering revelers, plying them with wine and telling his tales of long-past times on his way through the dark city. He doesn’t hesitate to spread a whole range of hefty anecdotes on his nightly walk.

DRESDEN GHOSTS – Gruesome and fantastic stories by the light of the night

Archivarius Lindhorst – Photo: Olaf Hais

The secret archivist Lindhorst will introduce you to the ghosts of the Saxon residence.

When night falls, the streets empty and the bats circle the Hausmann Tower, a different world comes into view: the Dresden ghosts step out of their vaults, from the waves of the Elbe, out of mysterious cellars and the deep, dark past and into the light of the moon. Secret Archivist Lindhorst knows them all because he lives in their world.
Once he was the King of Salamanders in Atlantis, but now he resides as a respectable but somewhat strange scholar in Dresden as told by E.T.A. Hoffmann in his famous novel “The Golden Pot”. During the night he goes out to show his guests this other world.

Learn everything about the white lady on Palace Square, the ghost of the Bishop of Meissen, the walled-in nun on Rosemary Lane, the student Anselmus and his love of a green snake and much, much more.

Have a look at Dresden that no mortal has ever seen!
